All sessions are offered by secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth throughout Connecticut. The free consultation is a brief conversation to understand your situation, explain how counseling works here, and decide whether we are a good fit. It is not a therapy session. The intake session is a comprehensive first appointment. Ongoing work is typically 50 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged when family work, EMDR, or a more complex session needs extra time.
What’s included
A standard session may include specialized counseling for:
Traumatic or acquired brain injury
Concussion and post-concussion syndrome
Stroke recovery
Brain tumor diagnosis, treatment, or survivorship
Family and caregiver support
Grief after neurological injury
Trauma, PTSD, and EMDR
Hypnosis for cognitive and emotional recovery
Counseling for healthcare professionals
You are paying for specialized, neuro-informed care — not a generic therapy hour limited by insurance authorizations or session caps.
Insurance & superbills
Neurospark Counseling does not accept insurance and is not an in-network provider. That is intentional. Private pay lets us tailor treatment to neurological recovery without diagnosis requirements, pre-authorizations, or session limits set by a plan.
Superbills
Upon request, we provide a detailed superbill (itemized receipt) after sessions so you can submit it to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed. Contact your plan first and ask about:
Out-of-network mental health benefits
Deductible
Whether a diagnosis code is required
How to submit a superbill
HSA / FSA
Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account cards are accepted when your plan allows therapy as an eligible expense.
Sliding scale & pro bono
A limited number of sliding-scale spots are reserved for clients facing financial hardship. A limited number of pro bono spots may be available in exceptional circumstances. These are offered case by case and are not guaranteed. If cost is a barrier, mention it during your consultation so we can discuss options honestly.
Payment.
Full payment is due at the time of each session.
We accept major credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and secure electronic payment.
Invoices and receipts are emailed after each session.
Superbills are provided on request.
Cancellation & attendance
48-hour notice
Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before the appointment. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.
Late arrival
Sessions start and end on time. A late arrival may shorten the session. The full fee still applies.
These policies protect reserved time so other survivors, families, and caregivers can be seen.
